Actor Zaan Khan, who played for Kota Royals Rajasthan in Ekta Kapoor and Anand Mishra’s MTV BCL, says that he wanted to be part of the show last year as well. However, due to date issues, he wasn’t able to do that. “I always wanted to play cricket. When I came to know that BCL is going on, as in the last seasons, I was busy in shooting for my movie. I couldn’t do it. But this time I was free so I thought that let’s give it a shot and I really enjoyed it,” he says.
Talking about how he came on board with Kota Royals Rajasthan, he says, “Kota Royals Rajasthan approached me as before that I was practising with the Mumbai team. It was a new team and they didn’t have any good batsman. Also, since this was my first BCL, I wanted to try to make my debut with a new team.”
The actor says that the experience was amazing. “I really enjoyed a lot. I made a lot of new friends. I really had a great time. During the practice sessions, we used to enjoy a lot, practice together, discipline each other, bond, so overall it was a very good experience,” he says.
He adds, “I’ve made a lot of new friends this time in BCL and also reconnected with my old friends with whom I couldn’t really meet personally before. The fights that I’ve seen in the middle of the matches were shocking for me because actors are very reputed and well known and seeing them fighting was shocking and disappointing at the same time.”
Zaan admits that it is tough to take out time for BCL. “It is really very tough. I still remember our practices used to be from 11 in the night till 3 in the morning. Our call time used to be 6 am in morning. So, it was very hard. At first, I thought it was a piece of cake but it wasn’t so. I had a hard time, but I managed it,” he says.
His love for cricket drove him to be part of BCL. “I am a very big fan of cricket right from my childhood. When I was 6 or 7 years old, from that time itself I loved cricket. I love its atmosphere where you’ve got so many people under one roof cheering for their teams and players. I love that energy,” he says.
The actor also adds that he had fun working with Anand. “Anand is a superb guy and I thank him for starting BCL and carrying it forward successfully. BCL has become a youth show now. My experience of working with Marinating Films was amazing and I just wish them all the best in their future endeavours,” he says.
